Okay, first of all, before I say anything, I have to show you all the AMAZING DISCOVERY I made today. It’s one that will, I guarantee you, ROCK YOUR WORLD.

Fucking right. The department store near my house stocks CANADIAN BEER. I mean, yes, it’s about 200% cheaper more expensive (in my excitement, I forgot how to use opposites) than Korean beer. Yes, the only Canadian beer they import is Moosehead. Whatever. It’s indescribably soothing to at least have the option of drinking it, even if 80% of the time I will probably cheap out and go for something local. (And yes, it is exponentially more delicious than Korean beer. They do a lot of things very, very well here, but fizzy wheat-based alcohol is not one of them.)

Also, I thought I’d tell you all about this new thing I’ve been planning, that I’m hoping you’re all going to get excited about. You see, as a teacher, I tell students what to do on a daily basis. However, because my students are tiny children, I very very rarely assign them homework. You guys, on the other hand, are old enough that I can give you as much homework as I want. Which is why I’m hoping you’ll participate in what I’m going to call my postcard project.

Here’s how it’s going to work.

1. You will email me (if you don’t know my email address, just comment to this post and I’ll get in touch with you via the email you use for that), and if I know you from a forty-year-old stalker in some dorm room in Beijing, I’ll email you my mailing information.

2. You will send me a postcard. This can be any kind of postcard you like – something from where you are, something from where you’ve been, something lovingly handmade with construction paper and macaroni – but it should probably be a postcard, unless you’re willing to send anything heavier by airmail to ensure that it gets here before 2008. Make sure your postcard has your return address somewhere in, near, and/or on it.

3. When I get your postcard, I’ll send you one back. From ASIA. *waves hands*

It’ll be awesome. This is 80% because I like collecting postcards and getting mail, and 20% because the wall above my stairs is looking very, very sparse, and I’d like to fill it with awesome things, instead of pictures of Jessica Alba and David Beckham. (Who are, FYI, the Famous Western People du jour in Korea.)

  1. 200% cheaper, or 200% more expensive?

  2. Also, beer is made predominantly using malted barley, not wheat. (That’s why wheat beer is so specifically-named.)

If you were to send me your mailing address, I would send you a postcard.

  3. Janer- what’s your address? I made postcard.
