Gotta love google:

At the edge of Dongbaek Island, adjacent to Haeundae Beach, a lone mermaid sits, gazing endlessly at a sea with no answers. According to legend, Princess Hwang-ok (“Topaz”) was forced to marry a merman, King Eunhye (“Grace”), and move far away from her kingdom of Naranda. She sits at the edge of the sea, facing her lost homeland, her hair carelessly blowing in the wind (notice the hairstyle worn by the mermaid — it’s the style usually given to angels during the Silla Dynasty). The mermaid endlessly sheds tears while clutching a topaz in her hand, her only reminder of home. On clear nights with a full moon, it is said that the topaz emanates its golden light, reflected on the waves crashing on her rocky throne.

Oddly, there is, although I'm sure I don't know the whole story - we stopped to take this picture walking down the path, but as we were walking up there was an older woman leaving the food and doing something that looked like praying to it. I don't know.

Please tell me you weren't actually, you know, moving when you took that. Because we know that you heal when you fall off bikes, but I don't think your camera would. ;)
